Pet urine in carpeting can be harmful to your carpet and create an odor that is very hard to remove.
There are basic steps you can use to attempt to remove pet urine from carpet, but often times it requires major restoration work from a professional carpet cleaner in Kenosha.
Nature’s Way Chem-Dry in Burlington offers their customers their innovative Pet Urine Removal Treatment (P.U.R.T .). P.U.R.T. is specially formulated to eliminate urine odors and has seen great results in Racine, Green Lake, Elkhorn, Waushara and surrounding Wisconsin cities.
Facts about Pet Urine in Carpeting
When there is pet urine on carpet it doesn’t just sit on the surface. Pet urine penetrates the carpet fibers and contaminates the backing of the carpet and the flooring material below the carpet.
Often times, pets will urinate in the same general location over and over without anyone knowing about it. Urine odors can permeate from the floor, including cement or wood, from the carpet tack strip, and even from a home’s framework behind the walls.
As the urine dries, the liquid evaporates but the urine crystals become even more concentrated and pungent. Simple cleaning cannot remove this odor and until recently, there was not a product available in stores or from professional cleaners that was effective at removing urine odors …
Until P.U.R.T.
How P.U.R.T. Works
First, the Champion Chem-Dry technician determines the source and severity of the odor, then sprays the carpet with The Natural, Chem-Dry’s signature, green-certified solution. After that, the technician uses the Hot Carbonating Extraction system (HCE) to remove the majority of the urine crystals.
In some of the worst instances, the technician has to pull back the carpet in the suspected areas to understand the true extent of the damage.
Sometimes, if damage is significant, the carpet pad will have be removed and replaced, and if necessary, an odor blocking shellac will be applied to the sub floor.
After these initial steps, P.U.R.T. will be applied heavily to the tack strip, the sub floor, the baseboards and the carpet backing. In order to see the best results from P.U.R.T. , the application has to be heavy enough to dampen all areas affected by the urine.
Over the next 24 to 36 hours, the ingredients in P.U.R.T. will react with the urine, and break down the odor causing components, leading to the removal of the odor from your carpet and home.
