Christmas Tree Sap on CarpetOne of the most celebrated holiday traditions is setting up a beautiful real Christmas tree in your home. Christmas trees are decked out with twinkling lights, shiny ornaments and tinsel and glitter that spread cheer throughout your decor.

Rubbing Alcohol

Alcohol is the most popular method for removing sap from carpet. That is because alcohol is able to harden the sap so that it is no longer and sticky which makes it much easier to clean.

With all carpet stain removal methods, you want to pretest the solution in a discrete carpeted area to ensure it won’t damage or discolor your carpet.

Once you have sufficiently tested the rubbing alcohol and are confident with using it on the tree sap, you will want to find a dry white cloth or paper towel. Try to avoid color cloths or printed cloths as there is the possibility of the color or design bleeding into your carpet.

Dampen the cloth with the rubbing alcohol and then gently blot the sap with the cloth. It’s important not too scrub too hard for fear of pushing the sap further into the carpet fiber or creating wear on that area of carpet.

If the sap is already deep in the carpet, try to massage the area with the cloth and your finger tips to reach the deeper sap.

Use different areas of the cloth while blotting so as not to rub the sap on the towel back into your carpet. Throughout the process you might want to pause for a few minutes in order to give the sap time to harden.

Continue these steps until the sap is completely removed from your carpet.
